Chatel is a traditional village, as yet unspoilt by commercialism. It is situated at the top of the Vallee d'Abondance and the views are spectacular. A truly French resort, Chatel is located on the border with Switzerland, and is 1 hour 20 mins drive from Geneva airport. The picturesque village has good facilities, including plenty of shops and some very good restaurants, serving typical French cuisine and Savoyard specialities. There are also cinemas and discos as well as bars and pubs. Chatel is approximately 2 miles from Chalet Bienvenue by car. The village of Chapelle d'Abondance is a mile down the valley. It has a good selection of restaurants and a few shops. |

is a large supermarket just around the corner from the chalet, which sells
food, wine, chocolate, etc. as well as petrol.
Skis can conveniently
be hired from Vertical Horizons (English owners) at Linga on the way to the
